Our Annual Plant Sale is traditionally held the Saturday before Mothers’ Day on the Congregational Church Green in
This plant sale is our primary fundraiser. The proceeds from this activity enable our club to conduct ongoing programs for our members that focus on increasing the knowledge of and interest in gardening as well as awareness of environmental issues. In addition, plant sale revenue allows the club to make a positive contribution to the community through the numerous civic activities that are described on this website.
Preparations for the sale begin in March when vegetable and herb seeds are started in a greenhouse provided by a local grower. In April, club members begin to dig and prepare perennials from their gardens. These perennials are then labeled and cared for until sale time. In addition to the greenhouse plants and member-dug perennials, newer perennial varieties are purchased from local growers. These plants add diversity to what we can offer for sale. Many are purchased by club members and become part of future sales when they are divided by their new owners. Much work goes into this sale, but it allows the club to do so much.
